This is one of the lessons I gleaned from Brian Tracy’s book, Master Your Time, Master Your Life.

In order to activate the full powers of your creativity, you need to have clarity first and foremost. This clarity is about knowing the goal you are trying to achieve and the obstacles that hinder you from reaching that goal. So what are you trying to do and how are you trying to do it? These questions can help you get clear on your goal.

To identify your obstacles, you want to ask what your assumptions might be. Then, you can ask the question, what if your assumptions were wrong? There’s always a better alternative to reach your goal. Think about how you might be able to overcome whatever the obstacles you face. For example, what should you be doing more of or what should you be doing less of in order to solve the problem at hand? What can you start doing today that you have not been doing? And what should you stop doing right now that isn’t helpful? By answering these questions, you can get rid of the obstacles that are on your way to your goal.
